I agree with jdh, below, that the XM-3500Li s a good entry into the Lithium Battery powered maxi-scooter range, at an affordable price. I feel it needs a BMS(Battery Management System) to be reliable for a consumer who doesn't want to tinker with it.
Given the expense of the Lithium batteries, there should be more instrumentation to support monitoring of the charge level and voltages. It calls for a useful Kwh meter, and a low volt indicator for each cell, or if any one cell falls too low. This is not a weakness of only the XM-3500Li, but of most rides in this class.
The XM-3500Li comes with a battery gauge, a voltmeter, which is of little use for Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries, since they hold a fairly steady voltage until nearly depleted. Pros:
- good, smooth acceleration
- climbs well, and accelerates whilst doing so
- quiet
- comfortable rider position
- wonderful for around town or small city
- stops well
- attractive, turns heads
- fits larger humans(6'4") with plenty of knee clearance
- decent construction
- bright tail lights and blinkers Cons:
- no BMS
- squeaky brakes with disc warpage on some
- no Regenerative braking
- weak headlights, with poor alignment of High beams
- rough ride, stiff rear suspension
- poor speedo
- poor instrument lighting
- some loose electrical wiring(Hi Amps)
- turning radius a bit wider than I expected
- non-auto-cancelling blinkers *Disclaimer: I am an online dealer in California for this line; that being said, I hope you'll find my review to be balanced, fair and accurate. | Satisfaction | Score |
