First the bad: So far no one has any serious problems except for the rear break disk which several owners complained of being warped, or perhaps is not centered properly, thus rubs and makes a loud chirping noise.. The 12V electronics do poorly in the rain. Range at full throttle leaves something to be desired, really the scooter shouldn't be driven more then 10 miles at full speed if one wants the batteries to last many years. Range doubles in econ mode, but you'll get passed by traffic. Definitely this is a scooter that needs a 50AH 60-72V lithium pack to make it a serious commuter. It lacks a trunk and more leg room as well. You must buy a battery equalizer or 5 chargers to insure the batteries have longevity. X-Treme has horrendous customer service, expect to wait months for replacement parts. They do not check the crates before shipping them, so many scooters are sent out with shipping damage and/or loose parts. If you can't do mechanical/electrical troubleshooting, or have someone who can, I would carefully think before buying a XM scooter. The Good: It gets lots of comments nearly every time I'm out. So far (600km) it has been dependable. I've never felt buyers remorse, which can't be said for many of the Chinese built scooters. The XM-3000 costs half as much as the XM-3500li, but gets half the range, and is 25% smaller. For the typical riding I do (~6 miles round trip, 28 miles on occasion), there is little reason to buy the more expensive scooter. The XM-3000, unlike the XM-3500li is a scooter with a history. It's twin brother the XM-2000 had many problems, all fixable by the online owner community. The manufacturer fixed all of the problems in the XM-3000, with the exception of great waterproofing. It seats two adults comfortably. It can fit in the back of a station wagon if needed to be transported long distances. It has yet to be seen how this scooter will fare in the long run, but so far it's holding up well and I'm very pleased that I am no longer am paying $4+/gallon and am using a sustainable form of transportation. | Satisfaction | Score |
