| Amazon.com customer | 2008-07-07 | | My First GPS | 8 | NR | NR | NR | | | | Helpful? | I researched hard & long before purchasing my very first GPS, the Garmin Nuvi 750 last week. I read a lot of reviews and debated between this, the 760 and the 660. I wanted the 750 over the 660 for the "Where Am I?" feature (which I love) and the fact the 750 was $299 at Sam's Club, the only one of these three models under $300. At first, it took a very long time to acquire signal, but then I read online that you had to turn on a new GPS, let it find the signal and then leave it on and still for at least 30 minutes. So I did that a few times and then these past few times I have turned it on, the signal was there as soon as the unit powered on. So we will see if that continues. I have a convertible and even with the top down, I can see my screen clearly. It calculates and recalculates quickly and I am contacting Garmin this week to try to get a free 2009 map update. I love everything about it, but haven't used the FM signal. I have an input jack in my car stereo, so I am anxious to get a cable and give that a try. The suction mount I put on my dash and it looks very natural and fits my New Beetle perfectly! So far - so good!

| | | | | | | Amazon.com customer | 2008-06-16 | | Garmin Gets Me Where I'm Going | 8 | NR | NR | NR | | | | Helpful? | The Garmin Nuvi 750 is a great deal at Amazon.com. This is my first GPS but I did a lot of research and price comparison before purchasing the Nuvi and so far I am very happy with it. The design is sleek and works well with the window/dashboard mounts that are included in the package. The software is easy to use and quick to respond, which is great when you need to change via points or POIs in a hurry. To counter some observations from previous reviews, I have thus far experienced no difficulties with satellite acquisition. While traveling, the Garmin suggested a new route to me that was faster than the route I had been taking. I really like that there are different options for shortest time, shortest distance, off road, and detour routes. I was very impressed with the posted speed limit accuracy although there were a few places where the speed limit changed and the Garmin did not update. The Garmin did a great job getting me in and out of a bustling downtown area with one-way streets and a lot of traffic. Voice directions prompting the next turn were given in a timely manner and with accurate information about which lane to be in and what street to turn on. I would recommend the Garmin Nuvi 750 for its quality and helpful new features, including "where am I?" and the last recorded location of your car when you park. I also like the pink trail that shows you where you've been, which some previous models do not offer. I have also found it helpful to be able to add and save routes -a relatively new feature in the Nuvi series- with via points along the way.

| | | | | | | Amazon.com customer | 2008-06-07 | | Excellent Product With One Drawback | 8 | NR | NR | NR | | | | Helpful? | The Garmin Nuvi 750 is an excellent product and outperforms a built in GPS I had in a previous vehilcle. I chose the 750 because I have a pre installed Bluetooth system. I find the unit to be very responsive and accurate. After the first few times, it located the satalites in an acceptable amount of time, one minute or less. It even locates satalite signals in my home. I do recommend checking the Garmin website for updated downloads. These are very benificial and will enhance the performance of the unit. I have not use all of the features yet, but the POI is very useful as well as the voice response calling out the street names. My last GPS did not have that feature and it makes a big difference, especially in an unfamiliar area. This brings me to the one drawback. The volume of the voice response is not loud enough. (for me) I have all of the 750 volume settings on max, but it can be difficult to hear the instructions, especially if you have the radio or Ipod playing. You can play it through your vehicle speaker system, but if you do, you cannot listen to the radio etc. Perhaps Garmin can increase the volume or come up with another fix with a future download update. All in all, this is a fine GPS system and will certainly get you where you're going. I highly recommend it and while you're at it, get the Portable Friction Dashboard Mount. It works great. | Satisfaction | Score |

| | | | | | | Amazon.com customer | 2008-05-28 | | GPS, maps, points of interest and more . . . | 10 | NR | NR | NR | | | | Helpful? | This product is more than I expected. Unfortunately, I had to buy it twice because my first one was stolen out of my car less than a month after purchase. The thief smashed my passenger window to get it; in broad daylight. I quickly bought another and wish I had used the Garmin Lock feature on the first Nuvi so the thief or his customer could not use it. I now remove it from the mount when I park my car so that it is not visible. I have downloaded several books to the Nuvi from [...] and enjoy listening to books as I travel. The only improvement would be allowing simultaneous use of the maps along with the audible books. Recently I had to find a house address in a rural area of northwest Washington that would have been almost impossible without the Garmin. It worked perfectly. I'm impressed with this model. It has all the features I want and is easy to use. | Satisfaction | Score |

| | | | | | | Amazon.com customer | 2008-05-24 | | I can creat a tour form my computer | 10 | NR | NR | NR | | | | Helpful? | I sell residential real estate. I'm selling more out of my usual territory so I wanted a GPS that I could load addresses and create a tour of 10-15 house at a time for a specific client from my lap top. I called Garmin and asked which model would do what I needed. They were very helpful. The 750 is the one. I can find address on google maps and down load them to the 750. I then pick up the client and push the button and never look at a map the rest of the day. When I went on line to price one I found some a little cheap but I had no confidence in the vendor. I've never had an issue with Amazon before so it was a no brainer. | Satisfaction | Score |

I bought the Garmin nuvi 750, after reading all the reviews, for a trip to Colorado. I have tried it out in town and it has been perfect, I have tried to confuse it, but recalculates perfectly. The only problem I have noticed is coming out of driveways it tells you to turn right, when you should turn left. Not sure about that? Overall though I think it is a great deal, for $299.00 at Sams Club. | Satisfaction | Score |

| | | | | | | Amazon.com customer | 2008-05-19 | | Excellent product. | 10 | NR | NR | NR | | | | Helpful? | I just love my Garmin Nuvi 750. It is simple to use but fairly deep with what you can do. I live in a suburban setting around a small city and have no problems connecting to satellites or with the FM Transmitter. As long as I'm outdoors or in my car then by the time I enter my pass code (3 seconds or so) the unit picks up all available satellites and I'm ready to go. Route recalculation is very fast for me. It has never taken more than a couple of seconds to recalculate my entire route. The screen is always clearly visible no matter the time of day or conditions. So far the maps have been very accurate and the route calculations have been spot on. This was worth every penny spent and then some. | Satisfaction | Score |

| | | | | | | Amazon.com customer | 2008-05-12 | | Love it! | 8 | NR | NR | NR | | | | Helpful? | I am an on-location photographer, so I spend a lot of time on the road to new places. Mapquest left me in the dust too many times and God forbid I miss a turn! The gps is a Godsend. Pros - Love that it tells you which lane to be in for the next turn. Very helpful in the city. - It gives you plenty of warning for the next turn. On average, you are verbally reminded 3 times. - Haven't used the picture, file or MP3 features yet, but they sound good in theory! - Multi-destination routing - Can clearly hear directions UNLESS the windows are open on the highway and/or the radio is on fairly high. At 90-100% volume, there is some vibration noise though. - Quick and easy to enter addresses. - Turns on and off with ignition Cons - The mount is useless to me. I ended up having to make my own mount so it could be on the dash. - Can sometimes come up with strange routes. - Have some trouble getting a satellite lock in cities as well as cloudy days. In Manhattan, I couldn't get a lock in pedestrian mode at all. Have also lost it under bridges too. - Don't care about the speed limits icon taking up space on the screen. - Would like to see the arrival time icon be able to toggle with how many miles are left on the trip. - No a/c adaptor. All in all, I love having this gps!

| | | | | | | Amazon.com customer | 2008-05-08 | | Nuvi 750 highly recommended! | 10 | NR | NR | NR | | | | Helpful? | This is my third Garmin product. I currently also use a StreetPilot C550. The software in this Garmin is similar, but certainly improved. I like the fact that this Nuvi will give you actual GPS coordinates, and that you can use it in pedestrian mode. You can load additional maps onto it using Garmin's Mapsource software if you're going to other countries. I love the FM Transmimt feature, where it will transmit spoken directions and MP3 music to your car's FM radio so you can hear it over the car's sound system. FAST map updating and rerouting. I'm surprised it didn't come with the external traffic receiver like my C550 did, but that's OK because I can use the one that came with my C550 on this unit as well. Unlike the C550, the Nuvi won't power up the traffic receiver on its own. The traffic receiver needs to be plugged into the car's cig. lighter plug to be powered up (no big deal). You can transfer all your old Garmin's existing waypoints right onto this Nuvi using MapSource software. This Nuvi is nice and flat, allowing you to easily take it with you and put it in your pocket when walking around. This item is nothing short of fantastic! As a technology enthusiast who has owned 3 Garmins now, I highly recommend it! | Satisfaction | Score |

| | | | | | | Amazon.com customer | 2008-05-02 | | The True "Never Lost" system | 10 | NR | NR | NR | | | | Helpful? | I bought the Garmin Nuvi 750 about 2 months ago and couldn't be more pleased. My first GPS was the Magellan 700. I switched to Garmin after receiving absolutely pitiful customer support. Support was not in the US, and I found it extremely difficult to understand the support person. His solution was to give me 10% off of a new Magellan from their website. This price didn't match even the most expensive local non-discount outlets. Back to the 750. There's so much to like. First, there is the compact size with a still generous, easy-to-read screen. Second, I love multi-destination routing. With gas approaching $4.00 (Thanks Bush Lite), I had planned my trips carefully. Now I let the 750 do it for me. I enter in my destinations, and then let the 750 choose the optimal route. I also enjoy the multiple dialects available for giving verbal directions. I've found the British woman easier to understand. I've also used the French version to brush up on my very crusty French. The 750 allows for driving, bike riding, and walking. Its size makes it ideal for this. (Clue: If you set the 750 for walking, be sure and remember to retun to driving mode when you return to your car. I forgot to reset it, and on a trip of about 5 miles across town, the 750 kept saying it would take about 5 hours!) The on-screen instructions are intuitive. I had no problem figuring out the most frequently used tools. When I purchased the 750 Amazon had a deal to get $100 if you signed up for Audible Books. I made the one year purchase for around $140. I get to download a dozen books into the 750. Too bad Amazon isn't offering this discount anymore. A couple of suggestions. Garmin doesn't tell you that when you register, you'll get the latest updates. I always register expensive equipment, and I did with the 750 but not for a couple of days. The updates are absolutely essential. Secondly, how much more would it cost to add an in-home charger and a carrying case? The after market cost of these items are over priced. Come on Garmin, make us completly happy with our purchase. Obviously, I could go on and on about the 750, but I'll stop. From the reviews I've read, customer service will be fine. I tend to be brand loyal, and because of service, Magellan lost my long time business, and, in the process, I discovered a better product. | Satisfaction | Score |

| | | | | | | Amazon.com customer | 2008-04-25 | | Nuvi 750 Great performer, No AC Adapter (Boo)! | 8 | NR | NR | NR | | | | Helpful? | When I read the nuvi 750 review on Cnet, I almost passed up a great piece of electronics and a very nice price (thank you Amazon)! Cnet is usually spot on with their reviews, but not this time. I suspect they didn't follow a few simple directions (like updating your equipment before using it). People, When you open up your Nuvi 750 box, go to your PC, register your product, and update to the most current software! It takes less than 15 minutes. I updated my firmware, MSN Direct software, etc... and I have not had ANY of the problems reported in some of the reviews I read. Thank god the folks at Garmin listed to their customers and fix issues and improve their equipment after you buy it. In the good old days, you were stuck with what was in the box. For additional performance gains, defrag your Nuvi after you load software updates, pictures, and MP3 files. My Nuvi 750 is smoking fast, when compared to my friends Nuvi 360. The Nuvi 750 screen is an upgrade over the 6 series, and the built in antenna is a very nice feature too. I purchased a bean-bag type dash mount and it works fantastic. I didn't even try the windshield mount because they are a hassle compared to the dash mount. Con: The folks at Garmin should include an AC charger and case with the purchase (I'd even go as far as saying they should include the MSD adapter in the box too). The 6 series comes with an AC charger, but the upgraded premium 7 series does not. Come on Garmin. If you continue to take away little things like this, it makes other brands look more attractive. I don't want to buy a product for several hundred dollars, and then have to invest another 30-50% of the cost into getting things like an AC charger, dash mount, and case. It's a nifty marketing scheme for profit, but it isn't going to help brand loyalty. This kept me from giving this product a 5 star rating (I should actually bump it down to 3 because it's very annoying). | Satisfaction | Score |

| | | | | | | Amazon.com customer | 2008-04-23 | | Don't Buy for MSN Traffic | 8 | NR | NR | NR | | | | Helpful? | I bought the Nuvi 750 and the MSN Direct receiver because I really wanted real-time traffic capability. I'd read reviews suggesting that the MSN traffic service was great and others that said it wasn't very good. Add me to the list of people who say that the MSN Direct traffic is poor. The only thing worse than no information is bad information, and that's what I was receiving via the MSN traffic service. It very often reports slowdowns that don't exist. All I can guess is that the information is old. The other flaw is that it frequently takes 10+ minutes to receive any traffic information. By that time, I'm already stuck in the traffic anyway so what's the use? For what it's worth, I no longer turn on the GPS for my daily commute since I know where I'm going and don't believe the traffic information anyway. Traffic information aside, I do like the GPS itself. Much better than the 600 series that has the obtrusive pop-up antenna. Satellite acquisition is generally very quick, although every once in awhile it can take several minutes. Directions are generally good. | Satisfaction | Score |

| | | | | | | Amazon.com customer | 2008-04-10 | | Well Worth The Money | 10 | NR | NR | NR | | | | Helpful? | First I have to say there was a problem registering the Nuvi 750 I bought from Amazon. Garmin's website said the serial number was already registered. Unable to contact Garmin (Holiday), I called Amazon. The representative I spoke to immediately, continually apologized and offered to either refund my money or send me another unit. Since I wanted the 750, I opted for a new unit which he overnighted to me. I don't see how anyone can ask for better customer service...these folks are the best. I'm quite happy with the Nuvi 750 as it performs like I expected a Garmin should. Given the sheer magnitude of the United States and complexity of its many roads, I don't expect it to be perfect, which it isn't, but it comes close. After updating the firmware, I hooked it in the car and it acquired satellites in less than twenty seconds first time turning on. After that, I only took few seconds to get a fix on sufficient satellites to navigate. Usually by time I enter my security code, press "Agree" and "Map", the unit is ready to navigate. The speaker isn't the greatest. It's easily head in my family car but in my Mustang with its modified exhaust, it's hard to hear even with the windows rolled up and stereo off. Fortunately, for me, that's not a problem on the highway and when I get into city traffic, I just use the FM transmitter and allow directions to come through my stereo speakers. Now that Google Maps has teamed up with Garmin to allow users to update locations to their GPS units, it's only made a good product better. Very soon Mapquest will also have this feature too include routs. Garmin's POI loader is great. Uploading POI's is a breeze and you can set proximity alerts to as much as 37 miles away, as the crow flies...a fantastic feature for interstate travel. I like the Automatic Map Scaling which will zoom you in closer when approaching an upcoming turn or maneuver. This is especially useful for off ramps, especially when traveling in congested areas. This is an excellent unit well worth the money.

| | | | | | | Amazon.com customer | 2008-04-09 | | IMO, best value for the money! | 10 | NR | NR | NR | | | | Helpful? | An outstanding bright screen, intuitive simple menu navigation and the addition of waypoints are the hallmarks of this wonderful device. With the new firmware (2.6 I believe) all satellite acquisition issues have been laid to rest with cold acquisition taking about 10 to 15 seconds and hot acquisition nearly instantaneous. I've owned the IPAQ and this device blows the IPAQ out of the water in terms of ease of use, form factor and overall elegance. I've also owned the Nuvi 360 and this screen is brighter and the signal acquisition is just as quick if not faster. The display is wider than the 360 and of course there is no antenna to deploy. The biggest advantage over the 360 is the ability to plan routs with the use of multiple waypoints. The IPAQ has 9 million points of interest (gas stations, hospitals etc.) compared to the Nuvi's 6 million, but getting to them is a difficult task on the IPAQ and VERY easy on the Nuvi - advantage Nuvi. Route selection is fantastic and the unit's accuracy is equal to any GPS device I've used. The big advantage over most other units is the ease of use, but that does not come at the expense of capability. All in all, this GPS is an excellent buy. You will not be disappointed.

| | | | | | | Amazon.com customer | 2008-04-08 | | Garmin nuvi 750 - all it is advertised | 10 | NR | NR | NR | | | | Helpful? | I have hesitated for quite some time on the purchase of a navigation device. Recently, I decided to take the plunge. I rode with several people who use different devices (Garmin, TomTom, and Magellan). I asked each for their experiences and then observed for myself. Garmin seemed the way to go based mainly on responsiveness. Pros: Easy to navigate the device - the touchpad is well laid out with an intuitive interface. The 4.3 in screen makes it easer to enter information into the keypad than a smaller screen. And it is extremely fast! Cons: None of the navigation devices, and Garmin is no exception, appear good at adding street information for new developments (the development was about finished about 6 - 9 months ago in this case). There was no user's manual - you have to go on-line if you have a specific "how to" question. This isn't a major issue, though, as it is pretty intuitive and easy to navigate. Overall, I would highly recommend this product. | Satisfaction | Score |

| | | | | | | Amazon.com customer | 2008-04-07 | | A Great Unit That Does All Well | 8 | NR | NR | NR | | | | Helpful? | I did a lot of comparative, hands-on shopping between Garmin and Magellan before buying this unit. My thanks to the patient associate at Best Buy. I finally picked this model of the 700 series because I didn't need the options include with the 760 or 770. The 750 works super. Easy to set up and use. A great unit which does everything well. One recommendation: forget the windshield mount that comes with the unit. Too much of a clue that you have a unit, and an invitation to thieves. Instead, get the optional Garmin portable friction mount, which you can place anywhere on the dash. When not in use, simply remove the whole unit and mount put it on the floor, and cover it with something.

| | | | | | | Amazon.com customer | 2008-04-06 | | Mostly Pros not many Cons | 10 | NR | NR | NR | | | | Helpful? | This is based off my personal experience... of course. I have had the nuvi 750 for about 3 months now and have traveled with it from NY to PA to MD and everywhere in between. As soon as I got it out of the box I updated everything from the Garmin website. Pros: -Fairly quick at recalculating your route -Screen is bright (even at 50%) and easy to view -Sound from speakers is decently loud to have music playing and still hear the system (as long as your not blasting your music) -Battery alone runs for about 4-5 hours. -Layout of all the touch buttons is simple and easy to use -Small enough to fit in your pocket but large enough to easily view from your dashboard -Great price. (Best Buy sells it for 500 dollars) -Easy plug and play use on your computer -The vehicle icons for download are entertaining as you can be a tank or a guy on a snow board or even a Christmas tree. -Other Pros are listed with the system info like multiple POI'S, Favorites, mp3 storage and images etc. and allows it to be more then just a Navigation Unit Cons: -If it hasn't been on in a few days it can take a few minutes (3-5) to acquire the satellite reception when you turn it on. -The vehicle power cable that came in the box was not for the Nuvi 750 it was for a different model. I had to go purchase the same one used in the streetpilot and Nuvi 200 series. Comments and Notes: -If your scrolling through all the options and need to go back to the main screen just HOLD the back button and it will take you back instead of constantly pressing it. -People complain about the sign for the speed limit on the screen but it only shows it for major highways and it never got in the way for me. Overall and Summary: I would recommend this unit. I got lost in Pennsylvania on my way up to visit a friend and I was in the middle of nowhere but I turned on this baby and found my way quick and easy. It would've been bad and painful if I didn't have it. (No thanks to my friend for the poor directions) Hope this helps. | Satisfaction | Score |

Best GPS I have owned in terms of the routes it calculates. In the end it was so good on this feature that I had to buy it. -Great text-to-speech with very clear directions. -Multiple POI routing with optimization -POI filtering by spelling is awesome!!! Best on the market from what I can tell. -Good MP3 player. -FM transmitter works, but hard to find a channel without noise. Needs a stronger signal. -Map switches from 3D view to 2D N up option when user selects the screen. Cons: -Does not maintain lock on GPS signal in downtown Chicago as well as Magellan Maestro 4250 which never lost the signal. Still much better than the older Garmin units. Much better than StreetPilot 2610. -Missing Built-in AAA tourbook. -POIs not as good as the AAA ones available in Magellan Maestro 4250 -No Ding sound when you should be turning!!! easy to miss turns. -No Bluetooth. Garmin wants to charge way too much for this feature. -No FM traffic receiver -Missing feature to see what services are available at upcoming exits. -Missing ability to view POIs on the map. -NO free POI updates -No place to enter AAA help/Membership number on emergency screen as in the Megellan 4250. | Satisfaction | Score |
